Cell Phones Have Become Very Advanced

Cell phones have suddenly become much more than just phones. For instance, when you look at the newest batch of AT&Tcellphones, you will find the more expensive ones have an array of gadgets and functions that seem like they come right out of Star Trek. The cheapest phones often come with cameras built in now and when you buy the more expensive models you get a whole lot more.

The more expensive cell phones, which often cost upwards of $300, may come with better cameras, GPS capabilities, Internet capabilities, MP3 players, and other things. It seem the only thing they are missing is the ability to shoot like the Star Trek phaser. Do people really use all these things in their cell phones? People always seem to like the latest and greatest electronic gadgets but it seems that few of them would really use all these neat things in a cell phone.

There are many cell phone carriers to choose from as well as the many different cell phone choices. Are the phones made for Verizon the exact same as are made for the other carriers? Sometimes a cell phone maker will make a phone model that is exclusively for one carrier. Each carrier has a phone or two that you can only get if you sign up for their service. Most phones however, are made for all carriers and are the same phones. Of course, with those models that are made exclusively for one carrier, people have learned how to open them up and “unlock” them for all carriers. With modern technology, it is hard for the phone makers to make something that prevents people from altering it and using it for their competitors.

Another question is whether the cell phone plans really any different between carriers? Let say you decide to go with AT&T because you like one of their phones and think it’s cool. Is their service really any different that all of the others. With competition so stiff, the prices of all of them are very close. If you talk to different people you might find a lot of varying opinions but most of these are just based on personal opinion and not necessarily on fact. The bottom line is that most carriers give you very much the same service for a similar price.

In the end, first time phone buyers have many choices to make. There is a lot of competition between the phone companies and a lot of fierce advertising competition for your business. Each cell phone company hopes to get your business and lock you into a long terms contract that you wont want to break. You must do your share of research first so you both get what you want and not more than you need.
