One characteristic that you’ll see about the world today is that it’s changing quickly, almost every minute. The reason behind this is the historical integration of the internet into our lifestyles. Communication has never been better. Before, you had to send your messages through courier, which would sometimes take weeks or even months to get to its destination. These days, it will take less than a second to converse with anyone on the other side of the globe. It’s amazing, really. It’s such a wonderful development that everyone should just jump in and support it. However, like everything else, Voip has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages of Voip
There are two characteristics that make Voip wonderful: affordability and comfort. Anyone who has ever had to make a long distance call probably understands how expensive they can get. With voip, however, long distance calls to the other part of the globe are practically free as long as you’re using a PC to PC connection. PC to phone calls do cost something but it’s a very modest price that’s easily affordable. Also, as long as you have broadband or have access to broadband, you would have your voip phone. No matter where you are, whether you’re on a resort in the Carribean or in freezing Russia, your phone number for your voip phone will stay the same. And, what’s more, if you’re connecting with someone through your computer, you can easily send pictures, documents, and even videos, as you do your call.
Cons of Voip
One disadvantage of Voip is that it’s not yet very stable. In fact, there are a lot of kinks and bugs that the developers have to straighten out. This technology is still under development and it should be a few years before it becomes totally stable. Also, if you have a good broadband connection but the one you’re talking to does not, then you’re sure to encounter problems.
Still, Voip is sure to replace the typical phone lines in a matter of time. There’s no question of whether or not you must get it, especially if you have broadband. My advice would be just to wait a bit before getting it. Let them improve the technology first.
